The vibe is typically sleepy and low-key at Alta in the summer months. There are a handful of mountain biking trails and 14 recognized hiking trails offering varying levels of difficulty and plenty of opportunity for stunning views, wildflowers, and wildlife spotting. Events at Alta include the annual Wasatch Wildflower Festival (July 28), stewardship opportunities (ongoing), The Wasatch Trail Run series (ongoing), a Cirque Series trail race (August 17), birding workshops and hikes (ongoing), and more. The popular Alta Camp Store located at the Cecret Lake Trailhead in the Albion Basin Campground will offer snacks, logo wear, and hiking supplies beginning on July 4. The Summer Road access road will open June 28 and visitors will pay a toll to park up on the mountain for hiking access. Reservations are recommended for the Albion Basin Campground.
Savory brunch can be enjoyed each Sunday at the historic Alta Lodge. Casual dining or more formal fare can be sampled at the Snowpine Lodge and additional dining options are located to the west at Snowbird. Both the The Snowpine Lodge and the Alta Lodge offer summer stays and the perfect opportunity to enjoy some quiet downtime.

During a typical summer, things are pretty darn quiet at Beaver Mountain which makes it a perfect refuge from the heat at 7,200 feet. Its proximity to Bear Lake offers a multitude of recreation opportunities in addition to a number of nearby mountain biking, hiking, and OHV trails. Beaver offers RV hookup sites, tent camping and rental of the large onsite yurt. The large Beaver Mountain Lodge can also be reserved for private events.
BRIAN HEAD SKI RESORT

With a stacked lineup of events and activities, Brian Head is a high-altitude oasis in the summer months. Perched at 9,600 feet above sea level near Cedar City in Utah, Brian Head will provide weekend recreation beginning on June 14, 2024. Diversions include scenic chairlift rides, disc golf, the lift-served mountain bike park, a rock climbing wall, avalanche tubing, hiking, bungee trampolines, zip lines, and more. Brian Head is also near Cedar Breaks National Monument, Zion National Park, and Bryce Canyon National Park for those who want to continue adventuring afield.
For grub, the Navajo Cafe and Giant Steps Cafe are open for breakfast and lunch until 4:30 pm. Patio Brews & Brats are located on the backside of the Giant Steps Lodge on Saturday and Sunday with a selection of Utah beers on draft, brats, ice cream and quick snacks.
Summer will officially be in full swing at Brian Head with their annual 4th of July Celebration (July 4-6). There are Drive-in Movies (ongoing), the BME Mountain Bike Race (July 11) the Festival of Flavors classic rock concert and beer garden (Aug 3), a Country Music Festival (August 24) and their annual Oktoberfest celebration (September 14). Brighton provides great access to scenic hiking trails in the Wasatch. The beloved Brighton Store offers snacks, ice cream, and fun merchandise and serves as a good launching point for summer adventure at Brighton. In recent years, Brighton has been dialing up the number of events and entertainment offered throughout the summer months. Most recently, Brighton has added a 9-hole and 18-hole disc golf course and disc golf rentals.
An action-packed camp series for kids aged 6-15 immerses children in the outdoors in week-long sessions that include sports, geocache challenges, nature walks, and more. Events at Brighton kick off on June 12 with weekly Wednesday cooking classes at the Milly Chalet. Celebrate Father’s Day (June 16) with brunch at the Milly Chalet and the season’s first Mt. Majestic Music Series concert. Each weekend, visitors to Brighton can expect live music from 12:30–5pm accompanied by food and beverages. Majestic Movie Mondays kick off on June 24 on the deck of the Alpine Rose, beginning at 5 pm. For those interested in physical punishment, the annual Cirque Series race will go down on June 29. The Wasatch Wildflower Festival will stop at Brighton on July 13 and don’t forget the weekly Big Cottonwood Canyon Flea Market in the resort’s parking lot on Sundays from 10am–5pm.

Each summer, Cherry Peak in Northern Utah’s Cache Valley, hosts a lively series of concerts featuring headlining acts and bands. Sprawl out on the lawn and enjoy the sunset while grooving to popular tunes. The first concert in the series will kick off on June 13 with the No. 1 tribute band to 70’s hits, Toast. Tickets often sell out well in advance so it’s best to purchase early. Additional performers include The Lonely Hearts Club, Jenny Oaks Baker & Family Four, Glenn Rawson, Máiréad Nesbitt & Alex Sharpe (formerly of Celtic Woman), and more.
Concert rules require lawn chairs to be no taller than 26 inches and the seat should not exceed more than 12 inches from the ground. VIP tickets are available.

Summer provides quite an experience at Deer Valley Resort with a plethora of activities, dining, events, and entertainment. With tons of lodging options, Deer Valley makes for a great extended escape or a long weekend. One of Utah’s very best lift-served mountain bike parks awaits bikers of intermediate to advanced skill levels with lift-serve beginning on June 14. With numerous trails designed and constructed by Gravity Logic, there is endless mileage to keep bikers spinning laps all day. There are also many scenic hiking trails, summer camps for kids, guided hikes, scenic chairlift rides, horseback riding, standup paddleboarding, and additional activities.
Dining options abound at Deer Valley in the summer months and can often be complemented by a pleasant patio atmosphere. The Silver Lake Restaurant fuels hungry hikers and bikers with casual cafeteria fare. Cast & Cut offers a more formal, fine dining experience where reservations are required. Additional options include the Empire Canyon Grill, the Fresh Tracks Kitchen, Deer Valley ETC., Cushing’s Cabin, and the Daily Lift.
The Snow Park Amphitheatre is home to the annual Deer Valley Concert Series and Deer Valley Music Festival. Hillside seating and a spacious expanse provide an enjoyable evening under the stars with picnics, food, and beverages. Headlining acts and popular bands rotate through the venue so check the current schedule for dates, tickets and times. This summer’s lineup includes The Patriotic Pops, the Music of Whitney Houston, Ziggy Marley, Lettuce, Disney in Concert, the Utah Symphony, and more.

Eagle Point is surrounded by one of Utah’s tallest mountain ranges, the Tushars. As such, it provides a welcome respite from the heat in Central Utah and a high-altitude playground for those seeking a little peace and quiet. Activities include off-road e-biking, cross-country mountain biking along the numerous singletrack trails in the area, navigating the 275-mile Paiute ATV trail system, paintballing, paddleboarding, horseback riding, guided climbing tours, fishing, and stargazing. Hikers and backpackers can come enjoy the 13.5-mile Skyline National Recreation Trail, one of the best hikes in Southern Utah.
The wide variety of lodging options surrounding Eagle Point can serve as the perfect basecamp and backdrop for exploration among the Tushar mountains. Many units are fully equipped with kitchens and spacious living areas. The Canyonside Bar & Grill opens for summer on June 14th serving pizza, pasta, burgers, seafood, salad, and more for lunch and dinner on Fridays and Saturdays.

If you’re looking for every activity under the sun, Park City Mountain is your scene. The resort is best known for its miles of mountain biking trails for every level and its robust menu of summer recreation. There is Utah’s longest alpine slide, a thrilling mountain coaster, mini golf, the ZipRider, climbing walls, gem panning, hiking, and of course the RockResorts Spa. The resort will operate daily beginning on June 8 and switch to Thurs-Sun for autumn hours beginning on September 3 through October 6.
Countless lodging and dining options are offered on and around the mountain for those who want to make a vacation out of visiting Park City Mountain. EPIC Passholders can enjoy discounts on dining at the Legends Bar & Grill, the Red Pine Lodge, Backyard BBQ, First Tracks, Red Tail Grill, and More. Grab refreshments at the Umbrella Bar in the Canyons Village with great views and a massive deck.
Always a staple during Park City’s summer months the Canyons Village Summer Concert Series rolls out on Thursday nights at 5:30 pm beginning on July 9. These are preceded by the weekly Wednesday Park City Farmer’s Market (kicking off May 29) running 11am–6pm which showcases local produce, art, handmade jewelry, and more in the Park City Mountain Village. Please note that Powder Mountain is embarking on a large number of lift construction projects for Summer 2024, as such, there will be ongoing trail closures as machinery moves about the mountain. Check Powder Mountain’s Instagram account or Conditions page for current updates.
Many multi-use trails at Powder Mountain are free to use for mountain bikers, hikers, and trail runners. Do know that the lift-assisted bike park will be closed for the summer 2024 season while new lifts are constructed across the mountain. Portions of Powder Mountain’s 30+ mile trail network will still be available to use and enjoy. Check Powder Mountain’s Conditions page for current updates.
SNOWBASIN RESORT

Snowbasin Resort serves as a hotbed for summer fun once the snow finally melts from its slopes. The mountains ring loud with the sounds of music, revelry and weekend events. The high alpine terrain is littered with stunning wildflowers and incredible views of Ogden Valley for hikers and bikers. Anyone can access the trails on weekdays and scenic gondola rides and bike haul via the Needles Gondola are available Friday–Sunday.
Beginning the weekend of June 15, activities at Snowbasin will include hiking or biking on over 26 miles of trails, scenic rides on the Needles Gondola, 18 holes of mini golf, Sunday brunch on the mountaintop, music festivals, and the weekly SnowWiesn Oktoberfest celebration. The popular Blues & Brews festival will run on Sundays from 12–6pm from June 16 through August 4. Pair local beers with delicious summer fare and BBQ. A Spartan Race will run at Snowbasin from July 20–21 for those looking to punish themselves on the mountain. For those feeling even more extreme, an Everesting event will take place from August 8–11 where competitors will have 36 hours to climb 29,029 feet in elevation, the equivalent of summiting Mount Everest by hiking numerous laps up the mountain and riding the gondola down.
Round out the season with Snowbasin’s lively SnowWiesn Oktoberfest which will run on Saturdays and Sundays from August 17 through October 6. Groove to live tunes, eat Bavarian-themed foods and enjoy a rotating selection of local arts and crafts.
Note that the hiking and biking trails at Snowbasin are open all week but lift service is only offered on Saturday and Sunday. Dogs are permitted at Snowbasin, so bring your pooch!
SNOWBIRD

With the oldest and longest-running Oktoberfest in the state of Utah, Snowbird is an alpine destination offering scenic tram rides, wildflower hikes, scenic chairlift rides, an alpine slide, a Mountain Coaster, and plenty of dining options to take in the cool mountain air. Snowbird will fire up on June 15, 2024 and remain open 7 days a week.
Hiking and cross country mountain biking are permitted in Peruvian Gulch. Due to ongoing construction projects, Gad Valley is closed to foot traffic and the resort is not permitting bike haul on the tram this summer.
For competitive runners, don’t miss the highly anticipated Cirque Series uphill race on July 13, the Wasatch Trail Run Series on July 17, or the grueling Speedgoat Mountain Race by UTMB running July 19–20.
The Wasatch Wildflower Festival will make its annual stop at Snowbird on July 27 for free guided tours, hiking, and more. One of the largest Oktoberfests in the mountain west will kick off on August 10 and run through October 13 on Saturdays and Sundays. Expect live music, sumptuous food, the haunting call of the Alphorns, arts, crafts, and fun activities for kids. See the event calendar for details.

Solitude has been on a mission to ramp up its summer offerings and this season will continue to offer recreation and leisure for those looking to escape the valley heat and revel in mountain vibes. Check out the ever-expanding Solitude Bike Park, grab brunch at St. Bernard’s, or simply take a hike. Lodging packages offer discounts and you can keep the kids busy at weekly or daily summer camp sessions.
The new Solitude Bike Park opened to heaps of anticipation from local riders in the fall of 2023. It features 4 new downhill trails designed by Gravity Logic that include green, blue, and black freeride features serviced by the Moonbeam Express chairlift. Trail work will continue this summer to increase the mileage for even more fun. The bike park is anticipated to open daily beginning on June 27. Note that e-bikes are not permitted and helmets are required. Solitude will also be offering coaching and classes for beginner to expert riders for ages 9 and up. Ikon passholders can enjoy discounts on bike rentals, lessons, and lift tickets. Catch the Thursday Twilight sessions for discounted lift tickets.
Additional activities include 18 holes of disc golf on one of Utah’s best courses, the Solitude Mountain Spa, scenic chairlift rides, mountainside dining, yoga, and adrenaline-pumping diversions at the Adventure Park.
There are tons of events on deck at Solitude this summer from stargazing to foodie happenings to live music. The fun kicks off in earnest with the Big Cottonwood Brew Fest (June 16) followed by the Sunday Live Music Series which will begin on June 23. The Wasatch Trail Run Series will stop over at Solitude on June 26. Great naturalist events like stargazing, geology hikes, the Wasatch Wildflower Festival (July 14), and interpretive nature hikes are kid-friendly and not to be missed. Beginning on June 27 there will be kid-friendly outdoor movies on the Moonbeam lawn at 8pm every Thursday. Disc golf enthusiasts will want to sign up for the 2024 Solitude Open on July 26–28.
Dining options for the summer at Solitude include the Honeycomb Grill, the Stone Haus Pizzeria & Creamery, the Thirsty Squirrel Pub, St. Bernard’s, and Little Dollie’s Waffle House.

Sundance, with its jaw-dropping views, is a high mountain paradise in the summer months with a plethora of activities and lodging options to help you escape the heat and expand your horizons. From e-bike rentals to spa treatments to horseback riding, or fly fishing lessons, there is something for absolutely everyone at Sundance.
Encompassing over 2,100 feet of vertical drop, the most of any zipline tour in the US, Sundance’s ZipTour is a memorable experience for adults and kids alike. Grab a relaxing and scenic lift ride to Ray’s Summit as you take in the majestic views of Mount Timpanogos. Sundance has over 25 miles of lift-served singletrack for mountain bikers and over 20 miles of gorgeous trails for beginner to expert hikers.
Just down the road from Sundance is the Provo River, a blue ribbon trout fishery where you can learn the art of casting and catch & release. Mountaintop yoga or full moon lift rides provide serene experiences. The Sundance Art Studio provides a rotating schedule of classes and lessons ranging from pottery, soap making, perfume making, jewelry crafting, painting, journal making, and more.
From fast casual food to fuel your hikes, to craft cocktails in the beloved Owl Bar, and fine dining in the renowned Tree Room, dining at Sundance is an experience. The fresh ingredients, romantic atmosphere, and attention to detail make every meal at Sundance memorable.
Festivities at Sundance kick off the weekend of June 7 with live music at the Owl Bar and a Mountain Top Luau on June 8. Music at the Owl Bar will play each Friday and Saturday followed by brunch at the Foundry Grill on Sundays. The Bluebird Cafe Concert Series will debut on July 5 and features Nashville’s finest songwriters and musicians who will talk story, sing songs, and share their craft. Tickets must be purchased in advance. Sundance’s theatre series is beloved by kids and adults alike and will drop on July 18 with performances of Disney’s Newsies the Musical. Woodward Park City is Utah’s premiere outdoor action and freestyle park. The campus includes state-of-the-art facilities, an enormous indoor training complex, and an outdoor lift-serviced bike park specifically designed to hone progression and skill development. Woodward’s options are literally limitless and include BMX, skateboarding, scooter, parkour, trampolines, summer camps, mountain biking, and more. Camp sessions begin on June 10 and the menu of camps can be explored here.
Events at Woodward include women’s nights, a summer race series, and visits from pro athletes. Peep the event calendar for current offerings. Dining includes the Hive Cafeteria or the Grind Cafe upstairs with a full-service coffee bar.
